Bridging cross-cultural aesthetics while exploring her own struggle to both fit into and breakaway from modern Western archetypes has been an important part of iskwē’s artistic vision since the release of her WCMA nominated self-titled debut album in late 2013. Her lead single “Nobody Knows,” produced by Juno Award nominees The Darcys and featured in the Netflix series Between, captivated audiences by turning a stark spotlight on the more than 1200 missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada.
Unafraid to challenge the convictions of her detractors by honouring her heritage, standing steadfast in her viewpoints, iskwē’s artistry knows no bounds. Blending soulful, breathlessly delivered lyrics coloured by the many shades of human nature with a sonic palette that takes its cue from the shadowy atmospherics of the 1990s Bristol sound, iskwē’s music revels in her strength of self and that is her true rallying cry.
iskwē garnered a win at the 2017 West Coast Music Awards (WCMA) for Electronic/Dance Artist of the Year and her 2017 album The Fight Within recently received a JUNO nomination for Indigenous Music Album Of The Year.

The New Electric
Calgary, Alberta’s 2016 YYC Awards “Group Of The Year”, The New Electric, has seen nothing but success since the release of their debut single, Life’s What You Make It; Canadian Pop Radio’s #26 most played song of 2016. The hit song took off, and saw impressive chart heights of: #18 on Hot AC, #26 on CHR (Top 40), and #28 on Main AC. The single was recently nominated at the 2017 Canadian Radio Music Awards for Best New Group: Mainstream AC. Their unique sound has also garnered over 760,000 collective streams on Spotify, proving that 2016 was just a taste of the good times ahead for The New Electric.
It all started in the Summer of 2014, when the band started recording with world- renowned producer, Brian Howes (Simple Plan, Hedley, Skillet, Mother Mother) to create an EP that was inspired by the good vibes in Los Angeles, California. The debut EP, Living Loud was released on October 28, 2016, just before the band went on to support Backstreet Boy - Nick Carter, on a 3-week Cross-Canada tour.
“We are blown away by how much our fans love our music. It’s crazy to think how much time, passion and fun went into making these songs... and now the world gets to hear them. The fans have been so patient and we are so thankful that they’re here to listen!” - Kyle McKearney (Lead Singer)
The leading track from the EP, Ride This Feeling, was recorded with producer Ryan Stewart (Carly Ray Jepsen, Victoria Duffield, Owl City), who recently finished working on The New Electric’s newest release, T-Shirt. The sexy new Summer anthem is sonically inspired by the fun energy of DNCE, grooves from The Weeknd, with a throw-back twist of Michael Jackson. The band strategically planned to release their new single on March 24th, just before heading across Canada in April with Warner Music Canada’s, Courage My Love. The single is already on fire with massive support from Spotify Canada, the fans, and Canadian pop radio (with a peak of #31 at HOT AC). With ambitious plans ahead, The New Electric is eager to hit the road and have the chance to play for their fans again.
Follow Canada’s next big independent band as they fearlessly pioneer their way onto people’s playlists around the world. Join their adventures on social media @TheNewElectric.

Jessta James has been turning skeptics into believers since the moment he first touched a microphone. Hailing from Bozeman, Montana it is clear this singer/rapper/ songwriter/producer has been determined to blaze his own trail in the industry. After living in LA and collaborating with some of the biggest names in hip hop and pop, he headed to Nashville to record and develop the sound that is truly his own. The release of his debut album, "Time To Get Right", gave the world it’s first taste of what was to come from Jessta. Although primarily geared to the country format, the album is a true blend of country, rock, hip-hop and blues. "Lawless" his new album, even further blurs the lines between format and genre to provide some incredibly powerful and diverse music.

The Most Serene Republic
It’s been a decade since The Most Serene Republic opened the door to the unreasonable and incalculable universe that was 2005’s Underwater Cinematographer. A decade filled with its own impossible things: two more LPs – the oh-so-dreamy Population (2007) and the kaleidoscopic ...And the Ever Expanding Universe (2009) – as well as EPs – Phages (2006), Fantasick Impossibliss EP (2010) and Pre Serene: Thee Oneironauts (2011) and near-constant touring, punctuated by blowing kisses to stage mates like The Strokes, Metric, Broken Social Scene and Stars.
Now after a half-decade break filled with grown-up things like becoming More educated! Poly-professionals! Creators of little people! Condo-owners! Navally-inclined! – these six friends are ready to unveil a fresh new bewildering view of that strange universe via Mediac a ten-song LP recorded by the band over four years throughout Toronto.
And yes, yes… the good stuff is all there: Warm feelies! Bad things! Anxiety! Ontario! Prescriptions! Capitalism! Plus (as a bonus offer!) sweeping melodies, plucked banjo strings, hiccupping violins, drums played by humans, drums spoken by machines but played by humans, bookshelves of guitar lines and bass-lines and keyboards (and god knows what else) punctuated by friendly vocals from friendly faces.
This shiny new LP, produced by TMSR’s Ryan Lenssen and mixed by sonic architect David Newfeld, will arrive in the Milky Way galaxy on November 13th via MapleMusic Recordings.
